LifePath has partnered with the Albany Guardian Society and B'Nai B'rith Gideon Foundation to offer shared housing opportunities for qualified older adults seeking financial relief in home rental costs.
Home-sharing is an innovative approach that pairs older adults with two or more unrelated individuals in a single-family home or living location. Whether you are the homeowner or home-sharer, each resident in the house will have access to a private bedroom and a shared common space. With this convenient, mutual support living arrangement, you will benefit from companionship, financial relief, and house maintenance assistance.
On Tuesday, April 27, 2021, a virtual Public Forum was held to discuss the challenges of housing options in New York State, and the possibility of starting a home-sharing program in the Captial Region was explored. Over 100 people attended and the meeting was a great success.
A follow-up meeting will be held on Thursday, June 17 at 2:30 pm in person at the Watervliet Senior Center or via Zoom for professionals who are interested in creating a coalition to discuss the feasibility of moving forward with this program in the Capital Region.
